Edwards — who had not slept until late Saturday night after receiving the news Wednesday of the death of his nephew and niece — is hoping people know how beautiful James and Jean Marie were and not just how they died.
“I hope the pictures (sent to the Clipper by Edwards) can be seen so they know they were beautiful children who were undeserving of this horrific tragedy, Edwards said.
Police allege James and Jean Marie were murdered Wednesday night at the hands of their mother. The investigation is ongoing, but the evidence against Sun Cha Warhola is substantial. Police say the children were located by their father in a bedroom covered by blankets. Police also say the children had marks consistent with strangulation and wounds that show a possible struggle.
Another family member who asked not to be identified offered thanks to the people of Layton, Davis County and the entire state of Utah.
“We appreciate so much the kindness, love and offers of condolences by the people out there.”
The family understands they are in for a long, horrible nightmare that has just started. It is their hope that similar tragedy doesn’t land upon others.
“May it never happen to any family,” Edwards said. “No one deserves this, especially children.”
