• The 12th annual Great Salt Lake Bird Festival. Naturalist and author Bill Fenimore will be the keynote speaker on Saturday, May 15. Registration for Great Salt Lake Bird Festival programs is now open online at www.greatsaltlakebirdfest.com/registration or by calling 801-451-3286.
May 14
• “The Spirit of Hope,” a benefit concert to raise funds for Make-A-Wish!, 7:30 p.m., Woods Cross High auditorium. Cost is $5 with 95 percent going directly for Wishes! Performances by: Premier Productions, WX Cheerleaders, Bountiful Mandonelles, Viewmont’s Dance Company and much more local talent.
• Utah Wildlife in Need (UWIN) will dedicate a new, 1.5 mile boardwalk and nature trail at 9 a.m., at the Great Salt Lake Learning Center. The dedication will recognize and thank the individuals and organizations that provided funding, donated materials, and services. After the event, the nature trail will be open to the public to experience the many habitats, and wildlife.

• Layton Family Recreation is hosting an evening out at the golf course, 4 p.m. to dark. Families will receive discounted golf, miniature golf, putting course and food packages. It will be held at Swan Lakes Golf Course, 850 N. 2200 W., Layton. 9-Hole Golf Course is $8/person, miniature golf, $2.50 a person, 18-hole putting course, $2.50 a person and batting cages, $1.50 for 25 pitches. • Art at the Main Gallery presents “Summer Solstice,” watercolors by Layton artist Terrece Beesley. Reception during Gallery Stroll, May 21, 6-9 p.m. at Art at the Main, a gallery located on the ground floor of the Main City Library (210 East 400 South, SLC, UT).
May 22
• Third annual Women’s Resource Expo held at the Davis Applied Technology College, 550 E. 300 S., Kaysville, 10 a.m.-2 p.m.. It’s free and the day will be filled with community resources, workshops, massages, facials, prize drawings and much more. Amanda Dickson, KSL Radio’s morning show cohost and author, will be the keynote speaker. She will speak about goal setting and her pathway to success.
• LaRae’s Dance Unlimited will be holding their dance recital, titled “Finding Neverland,” at 7 p.m. at Peery’s Egyptian Theatre in Ogden. The cost is free. The show will feature a ballet set to Peter Pan’s story of Neverland, complete with Peter Pan, Capt. Hook, Michael, John and Wendy, and Tinkerbell. • Violinist Karen Maloy Bergeson will present a recital in the Assembly Hall, 7:30 p.m. on Temple Square, SLC. Her program will include Aaron Copland’s Sonata for violin and piano; Ludwig van Beethoven’s Sonata No. 9 in A Major, op. 47 “Kreutzer;” and Maurice Ravel’s Tzigane. This free concert is open to ages eight and older.
May 15
• Verux Vox Vocis (it means “true voices”) will present their inaugural concert at 8 p.m. at Bountiful Community Church (150 N. 400 E., Bountiful). The program titled, “John III:XVI,” is a musical exploration of the ideas of God, Jesus, love, sacrifice, life, death, and rebirth. • Murray Park Amphitheater, 7:30 p.m. Free. The Choral Arts Society of Utah will join forces with the Utah National Guard 23rd Army Band at the Murray Park Amphitheater for an evening of patriotic music saluting our men and women in Uniform.
