Our dear mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Betty Jean Jardine Tingey, 88, passed away April 26, 2010, in Ogden, Utah. Betty was born December 11, 1921, in Bountiful, Utah, the youngest daughter of Frank and Ada Frances Bryson Jardine. She married the love of her life, Richard (Dick) Tingey, on April 10, 1942, in the Salt Lake Temple.

Betty’s life centered around her family and the Church. She carried a sense of optimism, appreciation and love throughout her life. She was a loving mother, devoted wife, and faithful church member. She was a fantastic organizer, an immaculate housekeeper, a superb listener, a prolific letter writer and an avid reader.

She focused on the positive, surrounded herself with beauty, and encouraged the best. She was an outstanding seamstress, and perfected many needle crafting skills such as knitting, machine, crewel and Brazilian embroidery. Her home and many others were beautified with her handiwork.

She honored her pioneer heritage and devoted over 30 years to researching not only her own lines, but she also made great contributions to the English royalty extraction program. She served in numerous Primary, Sunday School, Relief Society and Cub Scouting callings, and loved to do temple work.

She is survived by daughters, DeeAnn (Von) Pratt, Gunnison, UT ; Ilene (Dave) Nordquist; sons Dennis (Ann) Tingey, Layton, UT; and Dean Tingey, Asheboro, NC. She is also survived by a brother, Stuart (Winnifred) Jardine and sister, Janet Williams, both of Salt Lake City, UT. Grandchildren include Karen Memmott, David Pratt, Laura LeVitre, Shali Shirley, Brett Nordquist, Jana Williams, Jill Searle, Brandon Nordquist, Trisha Bodily, Judd Tingey, Aaron Tingey, and 29 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her infant daughter, Annette, grandson Kit Zachary Tingey, one brother, Frank, and sisters, Frances Bench and Marjorie Williams.

The family expresses appreciation to the physicians and staff at McKay-Dee Hospital, Ogden Legacy House Assisted Living Center and Mt. Ogden Care and Rehabilitation Center for the kind and gentle care they provided during the final years of her life.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m., Friday, April 30, 2010 at the Woodland Hills Ward, 640 South 750 East, Bountiful, where a viewing will be held from 9:45-11:15 a.m. prior to services. Interment-Bountiful City Cemetery. Online guest book at www.russonrmortuary.com.
