2,500 motorists get free car wash



SOUTH DAVIS — There may not be any free lunch, but 2,500 South Davis motorists did get a free car wash, recently.

That’s courtesy of the Firehouse Carwash and Detail, which opened for business Dec. 28 in Bountiful and North Salt Lake. Free car washes were given during that week to anyone who came in. Business owners are Dow Jones and longtime Davis County residents Paula Sant Peterson and Jennifer Cooper.

The firm offers exterior washes that include towel drying and free vacuums, carpet and mat cleaning and leather seat conditioning to hand washing and waxing and mini and full details.

Soroptimists seek contestants

BOUNTIFUL — The Women’s Opportunity Award deadline is coming up, and the Soroptimist International Club of Bountiful is looking for applicants.

The Women’s Opportunity Award is designed to help women who serve as the primary breadwinners for their families. The awarded money can be used to offset costs associated with efforts in getting a higher education. It can help to get text books, child care and transportation costs.

To be eligible for the award, residents must be enrolled in a vocational or technical training program, or in an undergraduate degree program. Residents must also be head of household or have a family financially dependent on her.

Center gets new accreditation

LAYTON — Rocky Mountain Women’s Health Center recently has been accredited by the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine for promoting safe and effective use of ultrasound in patient care, according to health center officials.

The voluntary certification signifies that all physicians and sonographers in the organization’s obstetrics/gynecology practice have received documented ultrasound training, have appropriate credentials, and are receiving continuing education.

The certification also indicates that the ultrasound equipment is properly maintained and calibrated.

Clinton adds new home builder

CLINTON — Clinton Homestead, 2300 N. 1500 W. in Clinton, welcomed its newest homebuilder, Destination Homes recently with a grand opening celebration.
