BOUNTIFUL ó The world is coming to Davis County, and now itís time to party. ##M:MORE## This week, the Bountiful/Davis Summerfest International and the International Organization of Folk Artís (IOV) World Youth Congress will be bringing dance, music and art from several different nations to share with local residents. Events will be held each day from Aug. 5-9, with most of them completely free. For the handful that arenít, tickets can be purchased at the Bountiful/Davis Art Center (BDAC).

On Aug. 5 (tonight), the Greek dance troupe will be performing with some local dancers at the Hellenic Cultural Memorial Center in Salt Lake City (279 South 300 West). The performance begins at 7:30 p.m. and admission is free.

Also tonight is the presentation of a 12th century Azerbaijani feast created by the National Culinary Center of Azerbaijan at the DATC. Please call the BDAC at 292-0367 to see if tickets are still available.

On Aug. 6, both Summerfest and the IOV congress officially kick off. Welcoming ceremonies for the congress will be held at 10 a.m. at the Bountiful City Hallís Council Theater, followed by three days of presentations about threatened cultural arts throughout the world. The public is welcome to attend any of these meetings, and those interested should call 292-0367 for more information.

Opening ceremonies will be held that evening at 6 p.m. at city hall. Immediately afterward, Summerfestís Street Dance 2008 will start at the intersection of 100 South and Main, with all of the participating dance troupes óCosta Rica, Greece, Israel, Mexico, Romania, Russia, Siberia, and the U.S. ó offering brief performances before inviting residents to join in the fun.

On Aug. 7, a full day of IOV presentations will be followed by the Summerfest opening ceremonies, which will be held at the stage at Bountiful Park at 6 p.m. Afterward will be an entire evening of performances by the participating dance groups.

On Aug. 8, the dancing and presentations will continue as both Summerfest and the congress get into full swing. At Summerfest, both the artist and food booths and the childrenís art yard will also be open.

At the South Davis Recreation Center, weavers from the Nanjing Brocade Research Institute will be manning one of the instituteís more than 12-foot-tall looms as they show local residents how they craft dragons, dancers, and jewel-toned gardens out of something as simple as thread. The display, which will continue through Aug. 9, is open to the public free of charge.

On Aug. 9, docents will offer guided tours of the Frank Lloyd Wright house located in Bountiful. Advance purchase tickets are required (which can be obtained by calling 292-0367) to secure a place on one of the four tours, which will also include a movie and lectures on Frank Lloyd Wright.

Both Summerfest and the congress will draw to a close with a day of presentations and performances that ends with the World Music Jam, an opportunity for all of the groups to get on stage together and dance at the same time.
