David Thomas was born in Oneida, Tenn. on Jan. 14, 1951. He returned home to his Heavenly Father on Aug. 27, 2008. He had his family around him when he died.
He married his best friend Marsha Eddins in 1971. They were later sealed in the London LDS Temple in 1980. He graduated from Memphis State with a double masters. He then received a commission in the U.S. Air Force. He flew F-111ís. The family lived in six states and England.
While in Mountain Home, Idaho, his family joined the L.D.S. Church. He later joined the Utah Air National Guard and began to fly KC-135ís. He served in Desert Shield / Desert Storm. While there he served as a high priest group leader. He has flown all over the world with his military assignments. With the Air Guard after flying, he was the comptroller; he was also over public affairs. He helped start the State Partnership Program between Utah and the country of Morocco.##M:More##
He has served in a bishopric, high priest group leadership, and teaching Genealogy, during which time he gathered information for over 33,000 of his ancestors. He loved working with the youth. He has held every Scouting position and has also been a Young Menís president three different times. Upon retiring in Nov. 2006, after 32 years in the military, he found out that he had stage 4 colon cancer.
The most important thing in his life was his family. He is survived by wife, Marsha, children - Brian (Camille), Michael (Emily), Joshua, and Amanda (Kellen). He has eight grandchildren, including one who was born the day he died. Even when sick his grandchildren could always bring a smile to his face. He is also survived by his mother and three siblings.

Services will be at the West Bountiful LDS Ward at 840 N. 800 West, West Bountiful at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 3 with viewing one hour prior. A viewing will also be at the ward Tuesday night from 6-8 p.m.
