And they wished Davis County could have something similar, or be included in that hundreds-of-pages long guide.
At long last, it has happened, thanks to the combined efforts of many, guided by Lorna Koci, director of 2-1-1 Information and Referral services at the Utah Food Bank.
The Bountiful resident has long been a proponent for advancing Davis County interests, and said at long last, the county is included in this latest edition.
The 600-page guide, which costs $40 to purchase, is intended for case workers, social workers, discharge planners, government officials and offices, rather than the general public.
“We’ve had resource guides in the past, but this is the first time Davis County has been included with the others,” Koci said. Other counties included are Salt Lake, Summit and Tooele.
In addition, a new Davis County Area General Resource List is available. It is updated twice each year.
The two-page guide covers a variety of topics: adult and child abuse/neglect, child/youth/family services, clothing/furniture/household items, courts, domestic violence, and employment/job training.
Others are: financial counseling, food assistance programs, government services, health care/hospitals/clinics, housing/utilities, law enforcement/emergency services/fire.
In addition, legal information/consultation, libraries, mental health/counseling, people with disabilities, pregnancy, rape/sexual assault, senior citizens, sexually transmitted diseases/AIDS information, substance abuse and support groups.
Finally, volunteer information is provided, welfare and financial services, and other services, such as the Better Business Bureau, Davis Area Convention & Visitors Bureau, Chamber of Commerce and UTA.
