BOUNTIFUL – The businesses aren’t called “Willey Ford” and “Willey Honda” any more, as the same car lots reopened under new management after a ribbon-cutting on Friday, Aug. 14.

The dealerships are continuing as part of the new Performance Autoplex, which is headquartered at Toyota of Bountiful.

The deal was finalized in March.

The purchase also included the Quality Automotive Group of dealerships in Tooele that were owned by the Willeys.

Some 300 to 400 employees were involved in the new combined dealerships, all of whom were offered jobs with the new owners.

Performance Auto is owned by Kirk Bengtzen and Mike Dever. Both of them were on hand for the ribbon cutting, along with Bountiful Mayor Randy Lewis and American Honda Zone Manager Jonathan Payne.

Willey Ford was started by the late Marion Willey in 1949 in downtown Bountiful. The Honda/Lincoln/Mercury lines were added later.

The Ford dealership saw a major remodel about 5 years ago, timed to coincide with the 60-year anniversary.
