BOUNTIFUL – It’s the end of an era for Dee’s Family Restaurant in Bountiful.
The popular eatery closed its doors on July 31, after owner/operator Ken Webb retired this year.
The Dee Anderson family still owns the property on 55 W. 500 South, which was leased to Mr. Webb for the past decade.
The Bountiful location has been open since the 1970s, along with other Dee’s around Utah.
Webb operated all remaining family restaurants in Utah until his retirement – including the Ogden location, which closed earlier in July.
A team of former Salt Lake Dee’s managers formed a partnership to keep the three SLC locations open, but they opted out of running the Bountiful and Ogden sites over logistics concerns.
Dee Anderson started his first SLC fast food drive-in hamburger location in 1932, and later expanded into a chain of 53 locations.
The Anderson family eventually sold all the drive-ins and leased out the family restaurant operations. Dee passed away in 1997.
