FARMINGTON – Kristopher Lee Ertmann appeared in Farmington’s 2nd District Court on Wednesday, July 30 and pleaded no contest to charges associated with the slashing of his wife’s throat.
Ertmann was prosecuted for slashing Tiffany Mead’s (now his ex-wife) throat during a meeting at a Fruit Heights park on July 23, 2013. He was initially charged with attempted murder, but that charge was reduced to aggravated assault.
He also faced criminal solicitation charges for trying to hire someone to kill Mead while he was in jail. He pleaded no contest to this charge as well.
In court Wednesday, Ertmann also pleaded no contest to a separate communications fraud charge.
The divorce between Ertmann and Mead was finalized in August of 2013.
According to police reports, the throat-slashing occurred during a meeting between the couple in which they were to discuss divorce arrangements.
Sentencing was scheduled for Sept 17.
