BOUNTIFUL - Max Brcko took second place in “Individual Medical Terminology” at a national competition for students interested in health professions.

The Viewmont High graduate participated in the HOSA-Future Health Professionals (formerly the Health Occupations Students of America) competition, along with others from Viewmont, who together took home a trophy for “Most Professional” team.

Brcko spent six to eight hours a day for three weeks after graduation studying words like “hordeolum” and “colesteatoma” for the competition.

“A lot of it will help me in the future,” said Brcko, who plans to attend the University of Utah in the fall and major in pre-med and psychology.
