CENTERVILLE — Davis County resident Carson Bonnemort has won the Sons of Utah Pioneers Centerville Chapter’s 2014 fourth grade essay contest.
Bonnemort, who attends Eagle Bay Elementary in Farmington, beat out 574 other participants spanning seven schools in the county.
SUP has elementary-aged students participate in the contest each year and includes schools from Farmington and Centerville.
The annual contest allows students to write an essay about one of their pioneer ancestors or a person in early Utah history. The contest coincides with their regular school curriculum and has been well-received by many of the teachers in the participating schools.
“We congratulate Carson and the other school winners as well as all those who took this opportunity to learn more about those who settled our great state,” said Paul Boss in a press release sent to the Clipper.
