Diane Pearl Stowe Gibbs is celebrating her 80th birthday on July 14. Diane was born July 14, 1934 to Hessel and Mildrew Stowe in Ogden. She is the eldest of five children.

Diane grew up on 8th Street in Ogden and graduated from Ogden High School class of 1952.

While at an MIA Christmas party her senior year of high school she met the new boy, fresh from the farm of Portage, Utah, Calvin Gibbs. This was the beginning of a love affair that has lasted over 60 years.

After graduation Diane was selected to Nurses Training School, in what would be the last graduating class of The Dee School of Nursing in 1955.

She and Cal were married while Cal was on Christmas leave during the Korean War, on December 18, 1953 in the Logan Temple. She and Cal moved to Bountiful in 1960 and have been residents ever since.

She worked as a nurse in labor and delivery at the old South Davis Hospital and then a Lakeview Hospital for almost 30 years until she retired in 1994.

Diane is the mother of five children, Laurie and Erney Markisich, Tracy and John Haire, Brad and Wendy Gibbs, Michael and Stacey Gibbs, and Lisa and Taisi Avei.

She also is the grandmother of 20 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

In celebration of her life, her family will honor her at an open house on July 18, at Cal’s Deli, 687 S. 700 West, Woods Cross, from 6–8 p.m.
