FARMINGTON CANYON – An elderly man suffered heart failure in Farmington Canyon Monday afternoon and passed away, according to a release from the Davis County Sheriff’s Office.

Just after 12:30 p.m. Monday, Davis County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Susan Poulsen said dispatchers received a 911 call, reporting an 84-year-old male who had been in Farmington Canyon riding ATVs in the “Beaver Ponds” area. The caller said the elderly male was in cardiac arrest that an off-duty firefighter was on scene performing CPR.

Poulsen said crews from the Davis County Sheriff’s Office and Farmington Fire Department responded, and upon arrival determined that the man was deceased.

Poulsen said the man possibly suffered from a medical condition but that the exact cause of death will be determined later by the State Medical Examiner’s Office.

The man had been riding with a group of people at the time of his death. The name of the deceased is being withheld, pending notification of family.
