KAYSVILLE — The Utah State University Botanical Center Gardens will be open to the public on Saturday, June 28, from 9 a.m. to noon, at 920 South 50 West in Kaysville.

There is no cost for the open house.

“If you’ve ever wondered what’s happening at the USU Botanical Center, this will be the day to visit,” said Britney Hunter, horticulture assistant professor for USU Extension in Davis County. “Our garden stewards are available to give tours of each garden area, and master gardeners can answer gardening questions and help visitors with plant diagnostics.”

Hunter said there is a lot to see, including a 2,000 square-foot vegetable garden, more than 100 varieties in the fruit orchard, blooming perennial gardens and an arboretum. In addition, there will be children’s games and crafts sponsored by USU Extension 4-H in Davis County and Sghetti’s Italian Ice will serve shaved ice.

Participants can get a map of the gardens, plant lists and free popcorn and lemonade at the Farmers’ Market Tent at 850 South 50 West, according to Hunter. From there they can visit whatever interests them on the 100-acre property.

For further information, contact Hunter at 801-451-3411 or visit usubotanicalcenter.org.
