BOUNTIFUL – Ryan Curtis had a season to remember as a member of the Bountiful Braves baseball team in 2014.

The senior, who played last week in the 4A North/South All-Star Game at Lindquist Field in Ogden, hit over .300, had four home runs and 23 RBI’s, and scored 26 runs in helping Bountiful capture the State 4A baseball crown.

Which left no question in the minds of the 4A coaches that he was voted on the first team of the 4A All-State baseball team, which was released by the coaches late last week.

Joining Curtis on the first team is teammate Parker DePasquale and Woods Cross’s Josh Cowley.

DePasquale, who pitched a complete game in the 4A championship against Spanish Fork, finished the season with an 8-2 record on the mound and a microscopic 1.23 ERA.

He also hit over .400 and drove in 18 runs for Bountiful.

Cowley, a junior for Woods Cross, hit nearly .500 for the Wildcats this season and helped Woods Cross finish in a tie for second place in Region 6 this season.

Cowley collected 41 hits with two doubles and three triples, hit a home run and drove in 22 runs this season.

He also had a 5-4 record on the mound.

Bountiful had a trio of players voted to the second team as well. Masen Jones, Tanner Redding and Ryan Stringfellow, all seniors, made the second team listing along with Woods Cross’s Kyle Rogers.

Jones, a catcher most of the season, hit nine doubles at the plate and played well defensively behind it.

Redding hit six doubles and two home runs while also finishing 7-0 on the mound.

Stringfellow, who played with Curtis in the All-Star game, hit a home run and four doubles at the plate.

Rogers, a junior, had three doubles and a triple and played solid defense roaming the outfield for the Wildcats.

Caden Brown of Woods Cross was the only member to make honorable mention.

The senior hit three doubles and a home run for the Wildcats.

Selections for the All-State baseball team are done by all of the coaches in the 4A classification.
