Last week Chet Loftis purchased an ad in the Davis County Clipper showing him standing next to Governor Herbert and stating that he was ready to work together with the governor.
Ironically, one of Governor Herbert’s main policy initiatives is getting a Utah version of the Medicaid expansion.
At the meet-the-candidates night (May 22), Mr. Loftis, when asked, declined to state his support for the governor’s plan.
A recent Brigham Young University poll shows that a strong majority of Utahns favor some version of the Medicaid expansion.
I wonder why Mr. Loftis chooses to be among the minority not supporting Governor Herbert’s plan to get basic medical coverage for 60,000 poor Utahns.
