WOODS CROSS – The regular season in softball came to an end last Thursday for Bountiful, Woods Cross and Viewmont.
The Braves and Wildcats won their respective games over Highland and Cyprus, respectively, and made the 4A state playoffs.
Viewmont dropped its final regular season game to Fremont, but still made the playoffs in the 5A bracket.
Davis failed to make the playoffs and ended the season by losing eight of its last 10 games.
Bountiful crushes Highland, 18-1
The Lady Braves scored 13 runs in the first three innings of last Thursday’s game against the Rams en route to an 18-1 win.
Brook Dickerson picked up the win inside the circle. Madeline Nelson and Sydney Austin each hit a double for the Lady Braves.
Bountiful had 17 hits as a team.
Woods Cross pummels Cyprus, 18-7
The Wildcats scored six runs each in the top of the fourth and fifth innings against Cyprus last Thursday, and eventually won the game 18-7.
Hanalee Robinson got the win inside the circle. Lindsey Quinton and Mannie Johnson each hit a home run for the Wildcats.
Cyprus scored all seven of its runs in the bottom of the fifth inning, but the mercy rule ended the game afterwards.
Vikings lose to Silver Wolves to end regular season
Viewmont and Fremont were tied at 3-3 entering the bottom of the sixth inning in last Thursday’s softball game at Fremont High School.
The Silver Wolves added a run in the sixth to hand the Vikings their third straight loss to close out the regular season.
Caitlyn Larsen and Riley Tyteca each hit a home run for the Vikings. Eliza Thornley took the loss.
Viewmont still made the playoffs in the 5A bracket.
Darts lose to Syracuse, miss the playoffs
In a must-win game played on Saturday, the Davis Darts softball team lost to Syracuse 7-0 and missed qualifying for the state 5A playoffs.
Syracuse’s Alex Valencia hit a home run and picked up the win for the Titans. The Titans hit five home runs as a team.
Makenna O’Brien took the loss for Davis. The Lady Darts were held to just three hits in the game.
Games this week
The state 4A and 5A playoffs continue Thursday afternoon with quarterfinal and loser’s bracket games.
Games will be played on respective home sites. All playoff games start at 4 p.m.
