Vikings still unbeaten, Wildcats drop to Judge

BOUNTIFUL – The Viewmont Vikings soccer team stayed unbeaten after beating Syracuse 5-0 at Syracuse High School last Thursday.

Davis remained in the hunt for a playoff spot in 5A after shutting out Layton 2-0.

In Region 6, Bountiful shutout Clearfield 5-0 and Woods Cross fell to Judge Memorial 4-2.

Vikings shutout Titans 5-0 to stay unbeaten

Viewmont’s soccer team improved to 14-0-1 overall after shutting out Syracuse 5-0 last Thursday.

Mike Johnson and Georgie Orozco each scored two goals and Lucas Cawley added another to help the Vikings cruise to a win.

Johnson’s two goals gives him 13 on the season to lead the team. Orozco and Cawley each have seven.

Porter May picked up the shutout at the net, his fourth straight and eighth overall this season.

Viewmont’s win secured the Region 1 title.

Darts win third straight after beating Layton 2-0

Davis picked up its third straight win last Thursday after shutting out the Layton Lancers 2-0.

Davis Owens and Hunter Hanks each scored a goal for the Darts and Tyler Bishop earned the shutout at the net.

Davis improved to 5-4-1 in region play and was tied with Layton for the third and fourth spot in Region 1 as of press time.

Braves shutout Falcons, 5-0

Bountiful picked up its third straight win after beating the Clearfield Falcons 5-0 last Friday at Millcreek Junior High School.

The win was also the Braves sixth in their last seven matches. With 25 points, the Braves are locked into the No. 2 seed in the region heading into the 4A state tournament.

Woods Cross loses to Judge Memorial, 4-2

The Wildcats were eliminated from playoff contention last Friday after losing to Judge Memorial, 4-2.

Judge had four different players score a goal a piece in the win.

The loss for Woods Cross dropped them five points behind the Bulldogs for the fourth and final spot in the playoffs.

Games this week

Davis will host Northridge in the final game of its regular season Thursday afternoon at Angel Street Park in Kaysville.

Game time is 3:30 p.m.
