Braves pummel Falcons; Darts beat Lancers

BOUNTIFUL – Bountiful stayed perfect in Region 6 play last week after taking down Clearfield 12-1 last Thursday.

Woods Cross took a tough loss to Kearns in extra innings, 8-5, and the two rivals finished the regular season Wednesday against each other at Bountiful High School.

In Region 1, Davis stayed in the No. 2 spot heading into the 5A playoffs after beating Layton 9-1, and Viewmont’s five game winning streak was snapped after losing to Northridge 3-0.

Braves stay perfect in Region 6, pummel Clearfield 12-1

Trailing 1-0 entering the bottom of the second inning, Bountiful scored six runs in the inning and six more in its half of the fifth inning to mercy-rule the Falcons 12-1 last Thursday at Bountiful High School.

Tanner Redding, who picked up the win on the mound, also hit a walk-off two-run home run in the bottom of the fifth inning to end the game.

Jordan Hayes hit a double and a triple at the plate, and both Masen Jones and Sam Merrill hit a double each in the win.

Wildcats rally, but fall short in extra innings to Kearns

Woods Cross scored four runs in the bottom of the ninth inning of last Friday’s game against Kearns.

The Cougars countered with three runs in the 11th inning to beat the Wildcats 8-5. 

The win for Kearns ended a five game winning streak for Woods Cross. 

Darts dominate Lancers in 9-1 win

Davis started the game by scoring seven runs in the bottom of the first inning and cruised to a 9-1 win over Layton last Friday.

The win kept Davis in the No. 2 seed in Region 1 as the team prepares to head into the 5A baseball playoffs.

Connor Blaisdell picked up the win on the mound. Jake Adams hit a pair of doubles for Davis.

Viewmont’s winning streak snapped after 3-0 loss to Northridge

The Vikings five-game winning streak on the diamond ended last Friday after losing to Northridge.

The Knights scored two runs to break the scoreless tie in the bottom of the fifth inning. They added a single run in the sixth and held the Vikings to six hits as a team. 

Games this week

Davis travels to Fremont Thursday to finish its three-game series against the Silver Wolves. 

Friday will see the finale of the regular season for Viewmont as it hosts Weber.

Game times are 3:30 p.m.

The regular season came to a close in Region 6 for Bountiful and Woods Cross, who faced each other at Bountiful High School.
