LAYTON -- An accident just outside of the south gate to Hill Air Force Base injured three people Friday night.

The accident happened around 10 p.m. when the driver of a Chevy Malibu failed to yield the right-of-way to a Nissan truck as it was turning left onto southbound Hill Field Road, said Layton Police Sgt. Juan J.Morales. Both vehicles wound up southeast of the intersection.

Morales said that both vehicles had a green light. As driver of the truck was trying to get through the intersection, the driver of the Malibu turned, failing to yield to the eastbound truck, driven by a 34-year-old man.

The driver of the Malibu, a 26-year-old female, was cited for failure to yield the right-of-way. A passenger in her car had to be extricated. Both drivers suffered minor injuries. All three were transported to the hospital, Morales said.

The intersection was closed for about an hour.
