BOUNTIFUL - Police were called on Friday after suspicious packages were discovered at Woods Cross High School and Bountiful Jr. High.
Davis School District spokesman Chris Williams told the Clipper a grounds crew worker discovered what looked like a pipe bomb on the grass between the school and the LDS seminary building Friday morning.
Williams said two classes were evacuated and relocated while a bomb squad established that the pipe was not explosive, and classes resumed immediately.
As a precaution and following the partial evacuation of Woods Cross High, Williams said Bountiful Junior High School went into lockout for about an hour and a half beginning at 11:30 a.m. after what looked like a ball of duct tape was spotted by the school’s principal outside the building.
Bountiful Police responded and the Davis County Bomb Squad investigated, and found the package to be harmless. Williams said school continued as normal following the situation.
Williams said the two incidents were not believed to be connected in any way.
