Vikings win wild game; Wildcats beat Braves

BOUNTIFUL – The Viewmont Vikings took care of business against Syracuse last Thursday, winning a high-scoring game 10-8.

At Millcreek Junior High, the Woods Cross Wildcats took down the Bountiful Braves 4-2.

Bountiful won a non-region game on Friday over Olympus, 11-3.

Vikings hit four home runs in 10-8 win over Titans

Viewmont’s Collette West smacked two home runs against Syracuse last Thursday in a Region 1 softball game.

Combined with home runs by Amanda Varley and Caitlyn Larsen, the Vikings were able to take down the Titans 10-8.

Syracuse’s Alex Valencia also hit two home runs, helping the Titans eventually tie the game at 8-8 after the top of the sixth inning.

Two runs by Viewmont in the bottom of the sixth sealed away the win.

Eliza Thornley picked up the win inside the circle and hit a double at the plate for Viewmont. Varley also hit a double.

Johnson’s two-RBI double lifts Wildcats past the Braves, 4-2

Trailing 2-1 in the sixth inning of last Thursday’s game against rival Bountiful, Woods Cross’ Manni Johnson drove a two-RBI double to center field to give the Wildcats a 3-2 lead.

Woods Cross tacked on another run and held the Braves scoreless the rest of the way to take home an important 4-2 win.

Johnson was 3-for-3 at the plate. Teammate Maddie Sorensen had two hits, including an RBI double.

Hanalee Robinson picked up the win inside the circle, pitching all seven innings. Both runs allowed were unearned, and she finished with five strikeouts.

McKenna Alley took the loss for Bountiful. Sydney Austin hit a double, one of only four hits for the Braves as a team.

Braves bounce back to beat Olympus, 11-3

In non-region action, the Braves bounced back from their loss to Woods Cross by beating former region foe Olympus last Friday, 11-3.

Brook Dickerson picked up the win inside the circle and hit two home runs at the plate for the Braves. 

McKenna Alley also hit a home run for Bountiful, which had 14 hits in the game.

Olympus committed five errors on the field and scored two of its three runs in the first inning.

Games this week

Davis and Viewmont will battle each other for the last time this season on Thursday.

Bountiful will travel to Clearfield to face the Falcons and Woods Cross will face Highland at Highland High School the same day. 

Woods Cross and Davis will play in the “Red vs. White” game Friday afternoon at Davis High School.

Game time is 3:30 p.m.
