LAYTON — The annual Davis County Gala is still nearly six months away, but organizers are in the thick of preparations with tickets and sponsorships already available.
The event held yearly at the Davis Conference Center, will be held Oct. 9. This year celebrates the opening of that facility 10 years ago.
“Every year, we look forward to what the gala committee has in store for us,” said Davis County Commissioner John Petroff. “This event is like no other, and it’s so amazing to see how the conference center becomes a new destination each time.”
This year, the committee plans a mystical and magical event, “Masquerade —Celebrating 10 Eventful Years.”
The gala has been a powerful tool to raise money for Davis County-based charities through the years, according to General Manager Scott Lund.
“In fact, over $295,000 has been raised over the years. What a difference the gala is making in our own backyards.”
Davis County officials will announce the recipient of the Heart of Davis Award, given annually to an individual or group that has made a significant impact to the betterment of Davis County. Officials also plan to announce the talent for the 2014 gala.
Dave Hilliard, director of operations and assistant general manager, said that building such events is a worthy and rewarding challenge each year.
“I’ve been lucky enough to be a part of each one...and every time I think of what I would like to experience as well as what northern Utah has not experienced,” Hilliard said. “We always try to go elegant, black tie and upscale. And, at the same time, we want it to be an amazing and memorable experience people will talk about for years to come.”
