Movie Rock is where the 1968 movie “Devil’s Brigade,” starring William Holden, Cliff Robertson and Vince Edwards was filmed. It might be fun renting the movie after hiking the trail to compare the farm lands of Draper and Lehi back then. I started hiking at East Bench Trailhead because the road was gated to Ghost Falls Trailhead. The road will open as soon as its dry enough to drive on. Hike the road to Ghost Falls Trailhead. I do have to warn you the trail is extremely steep the entire way to Movie Rock. I don’t recommend this trail if you’re out of shape. Most of the trail is loose gravel and one can lose their footing easily, so take your time heading up. At Ghost Falls Trailhead the trail starts across the road and fence. After the first steep hill you see one trail going up and the other down. Take the downhill toward the stream. It’s the only downhill on this hike. After the stream the trail starts the steep climb to Movie Rock. On arrival you’re rewarded with great views of Utah and Salt Lake Valleys. With spectacular lunch views, you see why the movie was filmed there!
