Marjorie Loraine Egbert Reed was born January 19, 1925 in Pocatello, Idaho to Hyrum Herbert Egbert and Lydia Bennett Egbert. She passed away on April 28, 2014 in Bountiful. She graduated from Pocatello High School and later married Robert Gaut Reed on June 30, 1944 in Pocatello. He passed away January 21, 2012 after 68 years of marriage.

Soon after WWII they relocated to Ft. Wayne, Indiana where Marjorie was a secretary for two electronic technology companies that made components for some of the first satellites. After returning to Pocatello in 1962, she worked for a while at the local stock broker office. Then from 1965 until retirement she operated a very successful pre-school and daycare. For 20 plus years she served hundreds of families and their children in Pocatello. She was a life long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband Bob, her parents and her sisters: Erma Sappington, Eva Eldredge, Afton “Sue” Anderson, Eunice Hedding, and Leone Hunt. She is survived by her sons, Robert (Beverly) Reed, Idaho Falls, Idaho; Roger (Chris) Reed, North Salt Lake and Rodney Reed, Mesa, Arizona. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Services will be held May 2, 2014 at the chapel located at the Utah Veterans Memorial Park in Bluffdale, under the direction of Independent Funeral Services. Viewing will begin at 10 am, services at 11 am followed by the dedication of the grave. Burial will be at the Utah Veterans Memorial Park Cemetery.

Marjorie’s family would like to thank the staff of North Canyon Care Center for such loving care in the last few weeks of her life. They treated our mother as their own and allowed her to pass with dignity and love. We are also very appreciative of Dr. Scott Southworth for his compassionate care of our mother.
