South Davis Hospital recognized

BOUNTIFUL - South Davis Community Hospital has received the Best of State award for the fifth consecutive year.

This year, the hospital is receiving three Best of State awards: for medical services, medical innovation and skilled nursing. The medals will be presented at a gala in early June in Salt Lake City, a hospital press release said.

“It is a privilege to be recognized with three Utah Best of State honors,” said hospital president and CEO David A. Bland. “It is a tribute to the hard work of our dedicated employees and our commitment to providing quality care and compassion to our patients and customers.”

The awards are given to recognize outstanding individuals, organizations and businesses in the state. Each nomination is reviewed by more than 100 judges.

SDCH was established as a nonprofit specialty care hospital in 1977. It has gained national recognition as it has continuously grown to meet the needs of the community and Intermountain West, the release said.

The hospital provides care for individuals who require ongoing, intensive treatment due to an unexpected accident, illness or serious medical condition. It serves more than 1,000 patients annually and employs more than 600 people. It is the largest nonprofit employer in the county.

Services offered range from pediatric specialty care, skilled nursing, advanced respiratory therapy, orthopedic rehabilitation, home health, hospice and assisted living.
