Get Fit health fair is set for May 9

KAYSVILLE — The third annual Get Fit health fair will be held May 9, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Davis Applied Technology College, 550 E. 300 S., here.

It is co-sponsored by the DATC and Family Enrichment Center/Head Start, and is intended to promote physical fitness, especially among children, as the nation’s obesity rate increases.

There will be a variety of free activities, including immunizations, Wii FIT game systems and prizes will be available, there will be food and nutrition tips, and more.

Also, there will be McDowall Mechanics trainer tips, inflatable obstacle courses and bounce houses, a Gold Medal Mile Walkathon, with strollers and wheelchair users invited, basketball, baseball, soccer and football.

In addition, My Gym Children’s Fitness will offer pre-school activities, Midtown Clinic will provide free immunizations, Headstart Preschool Exercises will be shared.

Davis Hospital will offer blood pressure checks, DATC will have health screenings and dental tips, Wal-mart will offer vision screenings, Bullough Chiropractic will be on hand, second hand smoke awareness will be highlighted by the Davis County Health Department, there will be USU healthy recipes and nutrition, and an interactive booth.

Attendees are asked to bring a can of food to donate to the county’s food banks.
