FARMINGTON - A two-day jury trial has been set for June 4-5, for Shon C. Handrahan accused of sending nude and obscene photos of his estranged wife to people she knew.

Dubbed the "revenge porn" case, it became the subject of Utah House Bill 71, during the recently completed state legislative session.

“Distribution of Pornographic Materials,” was sponsored by Rep. Marie Poulson, D-Salt Lake City that was passed by the full Legislature.

The bill makes it illegal to distribute “an intimate image” of an individual, without that person’s permission. It will be a class C misdemeanor on the first offense and a third-degree felony on any subsequent offenses.

3-year-old Handrahan, of Layton is also accused of sending his estranged wife more than 100 text messages, many of them containing threats, according to court documents.
