BOUNTIFUL – The Viewmont Vikings softball team won two games last week over Herriman and Brighton, respectively.
Davis fell to 0-3 in preseason play after dropping a tough game to Mountain Crest 11-10 last Friday.
At the Snow Canyon Spring Tournament, Bountiful split its four games.
Woods Cross dropped its fifth straight after losing to East 5-4.
Lady Vikings beat Herriman, Brighton
Viewmont bounced back from its consecutive losses in the 5A/4A Warm Up Tournament by beating Herriman 11-5 and Brighton 13-3 last Wednesday and Thursday, respectively.
Against Herriman, Viewmont rebounded from a 2-0 deficit and scored four runs in their half of the fourth inning.
Against the Bengals, Viewmont scored three runs in the top of the first inning to start the game and never trailed.
Lady Darts lose wild game to Mustangs, 11-10
In a wild run-scoring affair, the Davis Lady Darts were downed by Mountain Crest last Friday thanks to a pair of grand slams by Ashlee Murray of the Mustangs.
Leilani Moon hit a home run for Davis, helping the Darts obtain a 6-0 lead before allowing nine Mountain Crest runs between the third and fourth innings.
Lady Braves 2-2 at Snow Canyon tournament
The Bountiful Braves softball team finished 2-2 in the Snow Canyon Spring Tournament held in Saint George last weekend.
McKenna Alley was the pitcher of record for the first three games. Her only loss was against Syracuse. She allowed one run on one hit in that game.
Bountiful was mercy-ruled in the final game of the tournament after allowing eight runs in the first inning and six more in the second.
Woods Cross loses to Clearfield, East
Region 6 play didn’t open well for the Lady Wildcats softball team, who lost to Clearfield 10-2 last Wednesday and East 5-4 last Thursday.
Against Clearfield, a 1-1 tie turned into a 9-1 Falcons lead after Clearfield scored eight runs in the top of the third inning.
Despite taking the loss inside the circle, Hanalee Robinson also hit a home run for the Wildcats.
Games this week
In Region 1, Davis will host Northridge and Viewmont will travel to Weber Thursday afternoon.
Bountiful will host East and Woods Cross will travel to Kearns High School to face the Cougars.
All games start at 3:30 p.m.
