Vikings stay unbeaten; Braves win

BOUNTIFUL – The Viewmont Vikings boys’ soccer team stayed unbeaten after winning over Juan Diego 2-1 last Friday.

The Darts dropped their match to West 4-1 to finish non-region play at 1-2-1.

Bountiful got off to a strong start in Region 6 play by shutting out Highland 2-0. 

Woods Cross picked up its first win of the season after shutting out Kearns, 3-0.

Vikings remain unbeaten, beat Juan Diego 2-1

After battling to a 1-1 draw with Alta last Wednesday, the Viewmont Vikings hit the road to take on the Soaring Eagle last Friday.

Viewmont scored a goal in each half to down Juan Diego 2-1.

Luke Hansen and Lucas Cawley each scored a goal for the Vikings, who improved to 3-0-1 overall.

Juan Diego’s goal was scored in the second half.

Davis loses to West 4-1, ends preseason 1-2-1

Having played three games in a span of five days, the Davis Darts allowed four second half goals to West last Friday in a 4-1 loss that dropped the Darts to 1-2-1 to finish non-region play.

Davis held a 1-0 lead after Drew Castillo scored a first-half goal. West scored four goals in the second half to take away the win from the Darts.

Four different players scored for West in the win.

Castillo’s goal for Davis was his first of the season.

Braves start region play 2-0 after 2-0 win over Highland

The Bountiful Braves bounced back from its two preseason losses to Wasatch and Viewmont by opening Region 6 play with two wins.

After beating Kearns 5-1 Tuesday, Bountiful shutout the Rams 2-0 on Friday to improve to 2-0 in region play.

Alex Simpson scored the first goal for the Braves. Carsen Tinker scored his goal in the second half to pick up the win.

Cole Palmer picked up a shutout at the net, his first of the season.

Wildcats shutout Kearns, 3-0

Woods Cross picked up its first win of the season last Friday after shutting out the Cougars 3-0.

The Wildcats scored two goals in the first half and Taylor Kennard held the Cougars scoreless to pick up the shutout at the net.

Dayton Elggren scored two goals for the Wildcats. Luke Madsen scored a goal as well.

Matches this week 

In Region 1 action, Davis will host Syracuse Thursday after battling with Viewmont Tuesday.

The Vikings will take a trip up to Weber High School to face the Warriors the same day.

In Region 6, Bountiful will host East and Woods Cross will travel to Highland High School to face the Rams.

All matches will start at 3:30 p.m.
