CENTERVILLE- A hundred Utah residents pulled out their tents and sleeping bags to camp in the parking lot of the new Centerville Chick Fil-A Wednesday, March 6. The people all wore wristbands stating that they’d gotten here quickly enough to earn a year’s worth of food gift certificates, but the restaurant’s rules said they had to stay on sight until 6 a.m. Thursday morning in order to receive the certificates.

To pass the time, families and friends played board games and set up television sets. Chick Fil-A employees also led a group of campers in a numbers game near the entrance. Others had more serious things to occupy their time.

“We’re correcting papers,” said Heather Wartman, a teacher who had driven up from Riverton to be one of the first hundred. “We’re still working, even though we’re not at work.”

The restaurant is also currently doing a paper and card stock drive for Safe Harbor, gathering paper and card stock to replenish those the shelter uses for legal documents. For those interesting in donating, the restaurant is located at 540 N. 800 West in Centerville, just west of the MTC building.
