Alan Taylor Low and Carolyn Barlow Low of Woods Cross will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with family on two occasions, March 15th at Maddox Restaurant and again at the Joseph Smith Memorial Building on May 3 after their oldest grandson returns from Australia Perth Mission.

They met in their senior year at Davis High School and have been sweethearts ever since. They were married on March 12th, 1964 in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Salt Lake Temple by Apostle Richard L. Evans.

Carolyn graduated from Davis High School, class of 1960. She attended Weber College, where she was president of Sharmea sorority and voted “friendliest girl on campus” in 1962. She worked for 27 years as the secretary at Bountiful Water Sub Conservancy District, retiring in 2004. She then volunteered for 10 years as the head of the Woods Cross City senior citizens organization, “The Lunch Bunch”, where she was loved by all of the senior citizens. In 2007 the Woods Cross City mayor and city council awarded her Citizen of the Year and in July of 2008 she was recognized as the volunteer of the month. Carolyn enjoys being a homemaker to her family, and especially her grandchildren, and traveling.

Alan graduated from Davis High School, class of 1960. Attended Weber College for two years in accounting, leaving to serve a full time mission for two years in the Eastern States Atlantic Mission, and upon his return he graduated from the University of Utah with a degree in accounting. He retired in 1999, after 20 years of full time employment with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he worked in Welfare Services and Farm Management as an accountant. In addition, he retired in April 2013 after 32 years of part-time employment with the South Davis Metro Fire Agency where he served as chief financial officer. He loved working with our “first responders”. He has just completed 40 years of part-time service as the finance director/city recorder for Woods Cross City, where he continues his part-time work today. Alan is an avid golfer having had five life-time holes in one, and is currently the president of the Lakeside Senior Men’s Golf Association.

They are both active in their church with Carolyn serving in many positions among which was over 30 years as ward organist. Alan has also served in many callings including twice on the Stake High Council but his most rewarding was his time as bishop to the ward where they have lived for over 45 years.

They have lived in Woods Cross for 46 years and raised two daughters. Their children and spouses are Lisa and David Rigby of Boise, Idaho, Lezlee and Brian Hatch of Mapleton. They have 6 grandchildren: Brandon, Rachel, Michael Rigby. And Trevor, Logan, and Connor Hatch.
