SYRACUSE – An essay and a video created by Syracuse Arts Academy students in honor of Martin Luther King Jr., took honors in a recent contest sponsored by the Utah State Office of Education.
Chloe Fowers won the grand prize in the essay category and Heidi Heki was the ninth-grade
winner of the video contest.
King’s quote, “In the end, we will remember not hte words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends,” was the basis for contest entries.
Fowers said she used personal experiences with bullying as she formed her essay.
The two were honored at a USOE luncheon on Jan. 15.
