Melvin E. and Dorothy Miller Lotz, Kaysville, will celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary on Jan. 31 with an open house for their family and friends. The affair will be from 6 to 8 p.m. at the LDS 4th Ward Chapel, 875 E. 200 North, Kaysville. No gifts please.

They were married Feb. 2, 1944 at Dorothy’s home in the Kaysville Bamberger Railroad Station and later sealed in 1963 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They had met at Hill Field where Melvin was in the Army Air Corps and Dorothy was employed.

Melvin was born and raised and graduated from high school in and near Ottawa, Illinois. Dorothy was born and raised and gradauted from Davis High School in Kaysville. They have resided temporarily in Kaysville, Layton and Clearfield but settled down in Kaysville for the last 53 years.

Melvin retired after 11 years at NSD Clearfield, 23 years at Hill AFB and 50 years at Lagoon Amusement Park. Dorothy retired after 20 years at Hill AFB. They also served in the Bountiful LDS Temple for five years.

Their children and spouses are Marjorie Burton, Kaysville; Terry and Marilyn Lotz, Centerville; and Thomas and Sheila Lotz, Highland; They are proud grandparents of 17 and extra proud great-grandparents of 33.
