Kade Evans, Wyatt Koelling place third at UVU Rockwell

OREM – Davis High School’s Kade Evans and Wyatt Koelling each finished in third place at the Rockwell Rumble Tournament held at Utah Valley University last weekend.

Viewmont had a rough week on the mat, losing both region matches to Syracuse and Weber last Wednesday and Thursday.

Davis places 15th at Utah Valley’s Rumble

The Davis Darts wrestling team took the bus to Utah Valley University last weekend to take part in the Rumble Tournament. 

The Darts had two wrestlers finish in the top three, helping Davis place 15th out of 68 teams in the weekend tournament.

The Darts were led by Kade Evans and Wyatt Koelling, who each finished in third place in their respective weight classes.

Evans, wrestling at 106 pounds, placed third by winning his first four matches.

Koelling, wrestling at 182 pounds, also won his first four matches to reach the semi-finals before falling to Deer Park’s Trevor Eicher.

Jacob Naylor, at 145 pounds, placed fifth overall after beating Mason Kendrick of Mountain Crest in the fifth place match.

Connor Taylor, at 195 pounds, placed eighth overall in his weight class after dropping the seventh place match to Herriman’s Wade French.

Vikings lose both region matches to Syracuse, Weber

The Viewmont Vikings wrestling team had a rough week last Wednesday and Thursday, dropping matches to Syracuse and Weber in region play.

The Vikings’ loss to Syracuse Wednesday saw David Kim, Chaz Barraclough, Curtis Smith, Luke Gibbs and Alex Graham each picked up individual victories.

Thursday’s loss to Weber saw Kim, Barraclough, Taylor Porath, Ryan Winger, Bridger Hyatt and John Degrey each get individual wins.

Matches this week

Davis and Viewmont will square off for the first time in three years as region foes Thursday at Davis High School.

Woods Cross will face off against Clearfield at Clearfield High School Thursday, and Bountiful will face Kearns at home.
