NORTH SALT LAKE – Jaiden Midgley’s bookmark design took first place in a contest sponsored by Utah Educational Savings Plan and Zions Bank that drew 2,800 entries from across the state.

The fifth grader at Foxboro Elementary is carrying on a bit of a tradition, according to Kevin Prusse, principal.

Her sister, Skylar won the contest last year and another sister, Nicole, won the year before that, he said.

For the win, Jaiden was presented a $1,000 UESP college savings scholarship account.

“College will help me learn how to do the job that I want,” said Jaiden, as quoted in a press release from UESP.

“I am already starting to save money,” she continued. “My mom and dad are helping me get more money in my college savings and they encourage me to save my money and not spend it on other things.”

Accounts can be opened with just a few dollars, according to Lynne Wards, executive director of UESP. Earnings grow tax free, she said in a release, and Utah residents can get Utah state income tax benefits.
