BOUNTIFUL - Police are still on the lookout for the suspect in a botched robbery attempt Wednesday night.

According to Assistant Police Chief Ed Biehler, a male wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt and a ski mask attempted to rob a man who was in his car at approximately 10 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 6. The suspect has been described as being between 5-foot-8 and 6-foot, possibly in his early 20s, of medium build, and possibly Latino or Polynesian.

The victim was parked at 1350 N. Main Street, reading while he was waiting for his wife. When someone opened the door, Biehler said the man thought it was his wife.

“Instead, it was an individual in a ski mask with a gun who demanded his wallet,” he said. “When the man said he didn’t have a wallet, the suspect used the stun gun in his other hand.”

The victim honked his horn, causing the suspect to flee. Before he left, however, he fired twice into the car.

“One pull hit the steering column and one hit the door frame,” said Biehler.

The victim was uninjured by the attack. Anyone with information about the suspect is asked to call Bountiful Police at 801-298-6000.
