WEST POINT —Halloween is known as a night of tricks, but one teen’s trick was one more than a West Point resident could tolerate.

A group of teenage boys rang the man’s doorbell. When the man opened the door, he found one of the teens lying on the porch with a bag of candy on his chest, “you know, playing dead as teenagers do,” said Davis County Sheriff’s Sgt. Susan Poulsen.

It angered the man so, he allegedly “assisted the boy into the house by the shoulder and then locked the door behind them, leaving the boy’s friends outside,” Poulsen said.

The boy’s friends waited on the porch for 30 seconds or so before they knocked on the door and asked to have their friend back. The boy was then allowed to leave.

The boys went directly home, Poulsen said, and told their parents who called the sheriff’s office.

The man was cited for investigation of unlawful detention, a class B misdemeanor.

“He just needed to lightten up and go along with their prank. You know, have fun. It was Halloween,” Poulsen said.
