WOODS CROSS —
Tuesday afternoon is chocked full of great matches in volleyball and girls’ soccer, as Viewmont, Woods Cross and Bountiful will either hit the volleyball court, soccer field, or both.

Games slated Tuesday afternoon and evening are: Viewmont at Layton volleyball, Bountiful at Cyprus volleyball, Woods Cross at Kearns volleyball, and Viewmont versus Lone Peak girls’ soccer at Juan Diego Catholic High School.

The Vikings girls’ soccer team will be vying for yet another berth in the 5A girls’ soccer finals.

A win for Viewmont means a showdown against either Brighton or Fremont in the state title game, which will be played Friday at Rio Tinto Stadium in Sandy.

Viewmont has been to the girls’ soccer finals in each of the last three years. It broke through with a state title last season after a 1-0 win over Alta.

The Vikings volleyball team is looking for its second Region 1 victory after claiming their first against Weber back on Oct. 8. They will face the Lancers at Layton High School at 3:30 p.m.

At Highland High School, the Woods Cross Wildcats will be putting its nine-game winning streak on the line as they face the Rams for the second and final time this season.

In the pair’s first meeting, Woods Cross won in a three-set sweep at home.

The Braves volleyball team will also be on the road, traveling to Cyprus High School to face the Pirates. Bountiful beat Cyprus at home on Sept. 19.

A win for the Braves will keep them two games behind Woods Cross for first place in Region 6.

Both volleyball matches will start at 5:15 p.m.
