Seminars aim to protect youth from drugs, bullying, suicide

    BOUNTIFUL — Parent seminars focusing on mental health issues such as drug abuse and suicide prevention have been scheduled by the Davis School District.

    The free “Youth Protection” seminars will cover bullying, Internet safety tips, suicide warning signs and substance abuse prevention and intervention tips.

    The first two will be held in the Viewmont High auditorium, 120 W. 1000 North in Bountiful.

    The seminar set for Tuesday, Oct. 29, is directed at parents of elementary school-age children. The second, on Tuesday, Nov. 5, is for parents of secondary school-age children. Both seminars run from 7 to 9 p.m.

    Two more sessions will take place at the Clearfield High auditorium, 931 S. 1000 East in Clearfield. The class for parents of elementary children will run Tuesday, Jan. 28, from 7 to 9 p.m. Parents of secondary students are invited to the final session on Wednesday, Feb. 5, also from 7 to 9 p.m.
