BOUNTIFUL —  Spend your Saturday playing in the pumpkin patch.

The Bountiful City Youth Council is joining with Bountiful Communities That Care to host the annual Pumpkin Patch celebration on Oct. 18 from 5-8 p.m. at North Canyon Park. The event will feature games, food and more, with each activity requiring a certain amount of 25-cent tickets.

“A kid can usually do everything they’d want to for about $5 worth of tickets,” said Bountiful City council member John Marc Knight, who helped organize the event.

Kids who come dressed up can participate in the costume parade at 6 p.m. There will also be a harvest-themed background available for parents who want another photo opportunity.

Other activities include face painting, a bounce house, and a donut-eating contest.

“Kids love it and parents love it,” said Knight, speaking of the popular donut-eating contest.

In the contest, glazed donuts are hung on strings. Kids hold their hands behind their backs as they try to eat the donut, and whoever finishes their donut fastest is the winner.

“It’s like bobbing for apples without the water,” said Knight. “It makes for great photographs.”

Though the Pumpkin Patch is usually a fairly popular event, Mother Nature has the final word on how busy Saturday will be.

“It’s all weather related,” said Knight.

North Canyon Park is located at 3900 S. Bountiful Boulevard. For more information, visit and click on the calendar notice on the right-hand side of the page.
