LAYTON – One suspect has been arrested on possible charges related to a robbery at a Sinclair Convenience Store in Layton.
Another suspect, who robbed the same store, is also being sought on robbery charges.
Around 4:50 a.m. Tuesday morning, Oct. 8, Daniel Goodell, 33, allegedly robbed the Sinclair Convenience Store located at 1508 N. Highway 89, in Layton.
Goodell "selected a drink and walked up to the front counter," according to a press release issued by Layton police. He allegedly told the employee he had a gun. However, the gun was never brandished, according to the report.
Goodell allegedly was given money from the register, and left on foot.
He was later interviewed by the Layton detectives the same day, and was booked into the Davis County Jail. The Davis County Attorney's office will screen the case for possible charges.
Police say Goodell was a former employee.
The investigation is still active, and evidence collected from the scene is still being processed, according to police.
At approximately 1 a.m. Wednesday morning, Oct. 9, another robbery was reported at the same Sinclair location.
The alleged robber brandished a knife, and took money from the cash register. The amount taken from the register is unknown, and the suspect left the store.
The physical description of the robber was similar to the clothes worn by Goodell, the press release said. An altercation occurred during the robbery, where the alleged robber’s hood and hat came off.
Residents are asked to call the Layton Police Department at 801-497-8300 with information on the second robbery, or leave information through a confidential tip line at https://www.tipsubmit.com/webtips.aspx?AgencyID=1011.
