FARMINGTON — A man accused of robbing a North Salt Lake bank on Sept. 13, pleaded not guilty in 2nd District Court on Tuesday, Sept. 24.

Hopes, 55, is accused of robbing the Key Bank, 1065 N. U.S. 89.

He allegedly walked into the bank just before 4 p.m., handed a note to the teller demanding cash. At some point he allegedly brandished a knife and fled the bank with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Bank employees took a photo of the car and gave it to police. A Division of Motor Vehicle officer saw the car on I-15 shortly after the robbery and followed it into Salt Lake City where police arrested him.

Police said they found the cash from the robbery and the knife Hopes allegedly brandished.

Hopes is being held in the Davis County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail.

Another hearing has been set for Oct. 22.
