BOUNTIFUL — Isaac C. Ferguson, who worked with LDS Welfare Services for 33 years, will speak at the monthly dinner meeting of the Centerville chapter of the Sons of the Utah Pioneers on Oct. 3.

The dinner will be at the Wight House, 85 N. Main, in Bountiful, at 6:30 p.m, and the cost is $12.50 per person. Non-chapter members can call 801-298-1196 for reservations.

Ferguson, now retired, held several positions within Welfare Services. He was the first director of Church Humanitarian Services and Latter-day Saints Charities, manager of Church Health Services and assistant commissioner for LDS Social Services.

Since his retirement, Ferguson has served as a board member and chairman of the board of World Joy Inc., a private, non-profit organization working in a group of rural villages in the eastern region of Ghana. World Joy has been responsible for building 20 public schools and three rural health clinics. It also has helped to develop classroom management and teaching methods, training up to 1,500 teachers.
