FARMINGTON— It’s finally official: Apple has opened! The mobile phone and computer giant started serving customers today at 8 a.m. at Station Park in Farmington.

It coincides with Apple’s unveiling of the new iPhone 6s and iPhone 5c. The first 1,000 customers were to receive a free T-shirt, an Apple news release said.

Training sessions and free workshops will be offered. The store will also offer personal pickup, so you can buy online and pick up your order at the store. When in the store, you can use EasyPay in the Apple Store app to buy accessories from your iPhone, the release said.

This is Utah’s third Apple Store. Others are at City Creek Center in Salt Lake City and Fashion Place in Murray.

Its opening is joined by eight other retail stores and restaurants that are celebrating grand openings this weekend, information from Station Park said.

Those include: Charming Charlie, CherryBerry, Costa Vida, Edible Arrangements, Gap, Jared, Starbucks, Twigs Bistro and Martini Bar.

Saturday’s activities for the center’s Delightful Desserts and Distinctive Designs event include face-painting, artistic displays, live music and giveaways.

“I think Apple indicates the quality of tenants we’re bringing to Davis County,” said Craig Trottier, vice president of development for CenterCal Properties, developer and owner of Station Park.

The opening comes just after the release of the iPhone 5S and the iPhone 5C. The will be available for purchase on Friday. Apple’s redesigned mobile operating system, iOS 7, was ready for download on Wednesday, Sept. 18.
