NORTH SALT LAKE — Police arrested three men they say are admitted gang members early Saturday morning after they allegedly assaulted and robbed a North Salt Lake man in front of his apartment complex.
Jesus Valasquez-Zamora, Jaime Sanchez and Erick Herrera, all of Kearns, were booked into the Davis County Jail. They will be screened by the Davis County Attorney’s Office on charges of aggravated assault and aggravated robbery. A fourth suspect is still on the loose.
The victim was sitting outside his apartment at 55 W. Center Street after having arrived home from work about 3:30 a.m. Four men approached him after having wrecked their car on the road in front of the apartment complex, according to North Salt Lake Police Assistant Chief Troy Johnson.
As the victim asked the men if they were hurt, they pulled out a knife and assaulted him, taking his wallet and keys, Johnson said.
They took his vehicle, a red Acura, and headed north, crashing the vehicle at Hatch Park, Johnson said. They fled west on foot and were apprehended near the I-15 off-ramp at Center Street.
“They roughed him (the victim) up pretty good,” but he was not seriously injured, Johnson said.
The three allegedly admitted to being a part of the Nortenos gang.
