FARMINGTON — Youth hunters who want to learn all the ins and outs of duck hunting are in for a special treat.

On Saturday, Sept. 7, at the Farmington Bay Waterfowl Management Area, youth ages 15 and younger are invited to be part of the Utah Waterfowl Association’s Youth Fair.

The Fair, now in its ninth year of existence, is free of charge and is open to any youth who want to participate.

The Utah Division of Wildlife Resources is cosponsoring the event, which will include a free lunch.

Participants will be able to compete in a Youth Bow Challenge, and will be eligible for other prizes throughout the day.

Other activities include: riding an airboat or riding a boat powered by a “mud motor” engine, learn how to hunt diver ducks from a layout boat, learn how to call ducks with Utah state duck calling champion Brett Wonnacott, and participate in a duck decoy tossing game.

Separate learning experiences are fishing with a bow and arrow and learning how to catch bass.

The Farmington Bay Waterfowl Management Area is located at 1325 W. Glover Lane and the event starts at 8:30 a.m.
