BOUNTIFUL — Emergency crews spent Thursday morning hauling a semitrailer away from a house it rolled into at 1045 E. 400 North about 6:45 a.m.
The semitrailer was hauling a load of sand when it had some type of mechanical failure, landing on a car and rolling into the garage area of the house, according to South Davis Metro Fire Agency Chief Jeff Bassett.
The accident also damaged two power lines, taking out power throughout the neighborhood.
As of 10:30 a.m. additional semis were working to pull the damage semi into the street.
Once the truck is removed, crews from the utility companies will restore service to the house and engineers will evaluate the home’s damage to see if it can be occupied.
“I think the family can occupy the home,”Bassett said. “The damage was mainly to the garage area.”
The road was expected to be closed until about noon.
