WOODS CROSS - The first game for Viewmont in its comeback to Region 1 girls’ soccer couldn’t have been any other opponent.

Playing against rival Davis for the first time in the regular season since 2011, the Lady Vikings made the most of their return to their old region by beating the Lady Darts 2-1.

Meanwhile, both Bountiful and Woods Cross continued to play through Region 6 competition, and both rolled over their respective opponents with convincing wins over Judge Memorial and Cyprus, respectively.

Viewmont welcomes itself back to Region 1 with win over rival Davis

Davis jumped out to take the lead early when Regyn Youngberg kicked in the first goal of the contest in the ninth minute of play; however, Viewmont responded with the next two goals to take the Region 1 opener 2-1.

Abbie Flandro and Karrie Pead accounted for both of Viewmont’s goals. Pead’s came in the 20th minute of play and tied the game at 1-1. Flandro, who took a nice feed from teammate Kaitlin Palmer, fired the go-ahead goal in the 69th minute to finish the scoring on the afternoon.

Davis lost its first game of the season, and Viewmont picked up its second straight.

Six players score a goal each; Bountiful rolls over Judge Memorial

The Bountiful Lady Braves picked up their third straight win since dropping a 5-0 match against Davis on Aug. 23. Against Judge Memorial, Bountiful had six players score a goal each in a 6-1 victory.

The sextet of scorers were Cierra Martin, Lauren Hess, Liz Crezza, Miranda Tesch, Rachel Woodmansee and Sophia Skedros. Martin’s goal was her fourth, leading the team.

The Bulldogs’ only goal came from Caroline Tribble.

Kyra Fawcett scores four goals as Wildcats sink Pirates, 11-1

Woods Cross’ Kyra Fawcett fired in four goals, and Eden Jacobsen and Ashlyn Farnes scored a hat trick (three goals) each as the Lady Wildcats mauled Cyprus Tuesday afternoon at home.

For Fawcett, her quartet of goals increased her total to eight on the season. Farnes’ hat trick gives her five goals in as many games, and Jacobsen went from one goal to four goals scored on the season.

The win was Woods Cross’ third in a row in Region 6 play after finishing the preseason 0-2.

Upcoming games

After battling it out to claim the first win in Region 1, Viewmont will travel to Weber to take on the Warriors Thursday afternoon. Following its loss, Davis will be at home to host Syracuse at Angel Street Park.

Bountiful and Woods Cross will each be at home to continue Region 6 play, facing East and Highland, respectively.

Each game will kickoff at 3:30 p.m.
